Why Go Organic?

Simply put, organic foods, free from pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, are known to be more healthy and nutritious for you, containing more nutrients, minerals and vitamins than produce farmed using conventional methods.

Introduction to Organic Foods

Even after you move your baby to solid foods, organic food is important. Pound for pound, babies consume two to four times more fruits and vegetables than adults, thereby exposing them to a higher portion of contaminants. Babies have immature systems that need the purest and safest foods.

At Healthy Chef Creations, we believe babies deserve the best, clean start in life. You will have peace of mind knowing that organic food is the best choice for you, your baby, and the environment as well!

Our Momilicious meal plan uses USDA organic greens and grains wherever possible. Plus you get the cleanest, healthiest source of animal protein: Only wild caught seafood and free range meats.

Good Weight: It's a good thing!

As females, we are programmed from an early age that the best weight is the least weight. "Thin is in" we're told. "You can never be too thin!" We're told.

"Most pregnant women only need an extra 300 calories per day."

Well, think anew: When it comes to being pregnant, it's time to deprogram ourselves. While it's not that being pregnant gives you an excuse to balloon out, go hog wild and follow every food temptation it's certainly a time when putting on some weight is the best thing you can do. After all, you are carrying a baby inside you and all the nutrients are for the baby too!

Let's get our heads on straight here. Just how much weight should you expect to gain? If you are at the very beginning of gestation (i.e. 1-3 weeks post conception) you can expect to gain a healthy 25 to 40 pounds.

Where is all that weight coming from? Is it all just fat?

Actually, if we look at the total 30 or so pounds you will gain on the scale, only some 7 pounds of it in additional fat to your body. The majority of the additional weight you will carry is the baby itself (7 ½ lbs) and an overall increase in blood and fluid volume (8 lbs).

Where's All Your Pregnancy Weight? (body gains an average of 30 lbs.)

Looked at in this light, you're really only gaining an additional 7 pounds of fat.

You want those extra pounds to be created from the absolutely best, clean and healthy food calories. In a sense you're walking around with baby's kitchen inside you. So you want to stock up with plenty of organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins for your baby (and you!) to benefit.

To add on these healthy good, 30 lbs, most pregnant women only need to eat an additional 300 calories per day.

To help you visualize your daily 300 calorie addition, our photo gallery below shows a 300 calorie meal: 1 slice of bread, a slice of lean meat mixed with a serving of vegetables, a piece of fruit and a glass of low-fat milk.

Here at Healthy Chef Creations, we've already thought out diverse and tasty ways to give you those additional 300 calories per day in your meals for you. You can take a peek at some of the diversity of our Momilicious daily meals.
