What Nutritionists Do To Slim Down
After an indulgent vacation or a few too many backyard cookouts, sometimes your body needs a little diet cleanup. Here are some tips on how nutritionists themselves slim back down in a healthy way.
Why Are Organic Foods More Expensive?
More and more people are buying-in to the health benefits of organic and all natural foods. Sales of organic food alone reached $35.9 billion in the U.S., up 11.3% from the prior year, making it one of the fastest growing segments. But these healthier ingredients come with a cost. Organic foods are often 25% more expensive than traditional foods, as it simply costs more to produce the food without pesticides and chemical additives.
Fast Food Damages Your Ability to Burn Calories
Fast food gives you too many calories, but it also reduces your body's ability to burn calories. Research conducted by prominent British researcher Tim Spector of King's College London shows some of the science behind this finding. In his upcoming book, "The Diet Myth: The Real Science Behind What We Eat," Spector explains that eating the highly processed ingredients and huge portion sizes in fast foods kills off the beneficial gut bacteria that helps your body burn calories.
